Shane Pickering

Shane Pickering is an accomplished professional with a rich history in information technology and security for financial institutions spanning over 24 years. Raised in Evanston, Wyoming, Mr. Pickering graduated from Laramie County Community College in 1999, earning an Associate of Applied Science degree along with a Microsoft Certified Professional certification. Upon graduating, Mr. Pickering joined Rawlins National Bank as an Information Security Analyst, where he stayed until July 2007. 

This experience led him to Green River, WY, where he assumed responsibility for the Information Technology Department at Trona Valley, Federal Credit Union. His responsibilities expanded over the years as the Credit Union’s System Security Analyst, a role in which he was involved in vital decision-making processes pertinent to system security across the organization and provided regular information security updates to the Board of Directors.

In July 2022, Mr. Pickering assumed the role of Information Security Officer at State Bank and swiftly spearheaded a significant overhaul of the bank's IT operations and security infrastructure. His notable accomplishments encompass modernizing the teller system in line with current industry standards, introducing top-tier ISP and firewall systems at the Rock Springs and Green River branches, and partnering with a new Managed Security Services provider to offer external penetration tests, internal vulnerability scans, and thorough information security training for staff. Moreover, he championed State Bank's foray into mobile banking, overseeing the creation of both Business and Retail mobile banking Apps; upgraded the bank's phone system; and consistently briefs the Board of Directors on internal IT progress and overarching financial industry trends.

With a unique ability to navigate various responsibilities simultaneously, Mr. Pickering has excelled in introducing new technologies that elevate the success of State Bank. As a Senior Information Security Strategist, Mr. Pickering's unwavering dedication to innovation and security paves the way for the bank's continued growth and prosperity.
